How Does a Core Exchange Work?

1. Place your order online or by phone.

2. Ship us your used unit matching the same reference as the ordered part:

- The adjustment screw must not be seized.
- The flap (valve) must move freely.
- The cover must be present, even if damaged.
- The housing must not be deformed.
- Send the part without the plastic sleeve.
- Remove all screws.
- Include your order confirmation in the package.

3. We will ship your remanufactured unit.

Please note: For a core exchange, sending your old unit is mandatory to complete your order. If the unit does not meet the specified criteria or is not shipped, your order will not be processed on time. In such cases, an administrative fee of €100 (excluding VAT) will be applied to cover handling and return shipping costs.

Reconditioning Process

Initial inspection of the used unit to determine usability. Complete disassembly for initial cleaning. External metal surfaces are cleaned via micro-blasting, while plastic components are washed. Pre-inspection of functionality and condition of all components is performed. Parts like the electronic track, flap, bracket, valve, and duct are repaired or replaced as needed. Electrical resistance is tested. Some components may be replaced with OEM elements. We have observed that airflow meter failures often result from potentiometer wear, causing impedance variations that lead to power loss, injection failures, and unstable idle. After reconditioning, these issues are resolved for proper airflow meter functionality. Finally, the unit is tested on a 205 GTI. Only successfully tested units are stocked and made available for sale. A typical 205 1.9 engine idles high (around 2,000 RPM) for the first 3–4 minutes when cold before stabilizing slightly above 1,000 RPM. Always warm up the engine before driving and avoid heavy acceleration during the first 10–15 kilometers. Under these conditions, you should experience smooth acceleration and deceleration without interruptions or jerks, even during sporty driving.

Signs of a Failing Airflow Meter

If your engine struggles to rev, idles irregularly despite proper tuning, "misfires," stalls frequently, requires throttle input to start or maintain idle, or exhibits backfiring, power loss during acceleration, or interruptions at higher RPMs, the airflow meter is likely failing.
