Reconditioning Process
Initial inspection of the used part to determine whether it is usable. Complete disassembly for a first cleaning. Microblasting of the external metal surfaces and simple washing of plastic parts. Pre-check of all components' functionality and condition, replacement/repair: the electronic track, the flap, the mounting bracket, the valve, and the conduit. Check of electrical resistance. Some components may be replaced with original parts. We have noted that air flow meter malfunctions are often caused by wear from scratches on the potentiometer. This wear alters the impedance, leading to power loss, fuel cutoffs, and unstable idling. After reconditioning, this issue is corrected, and the air flow meter returns to normal operation. Finally, the part is tested on a Peugeot 205 GTI. If the test is passed successfully, the part is placed in stock and made available for sale on our website. A normal behavior for a 205 GTI 1.9 is a high idle (around 2000 RPM) for the first 3/4 minutes when cold, then stabilizing slightly above 1000 RPM. The engine reaches optimal performance when warm, so always let it warm up before driving and avoid hard acceleration for the first 10/15 kilometers. Under these conditions, you should notice smooth acceleration/deceleration, with no power cuts or jerks, even when driving more aggressively.
Symptoms of a worn-out air flow meter
If your engine struggles to rev, if the idle is unstable or very unstable despite proper adjustment, if the engine "stutters" or stalls frequently, if you need to keep the accelerator pressed to start or maintain idle, and especially if you notice explosions in the exhaust, power loss during acceleration, or rev cutouts, it is likely that your air flow meter is near the end of its life.
