Standard Exchange Complete Igniter BOSCH 0237009063 / 0237009086 for Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 115 horsepower (igniter, capsule, and wire [pulse sensor])
For sale as a standard exchange: BOSCH igniter 0237009063 / 0237009086 for Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 115 horsepower. The igniter is delivered complete, with its vacuum capsule 1237123091 and pulse sensor.
When you order this standard exchange, please send us by parcel your complete igniter with the same reference as the one ordered, along with a copy of your order confirmation. Make sure you send it with the appropriate capsule and the wire containing the pulse sensor.
Attention: If you send us an incomplete igniter and/or one where, for example, the capsule is not correct, we will not return an incomplete igniter / with the wrong capsule. Capsules are not sold separately, only as a standard exchange.
To identify the appropriate BOSCH capsule for the igniter 0237009063, check the last 4 digits noted on the stem of the capsule; they must be 3027 (the igniter capsule can be disassembled by pulling it and sliding it off to the side of the igniter head). This procedure applies to pre-1990 205 GTIs. After 1990, i.e., from 1991 onwards, the BOSCH igniter reference has changed. This is the igniter 0237009086, for which the adapted BOSCH capsule is the reference 3181.
WARNING: IF THESE CONDITIONS ARE NOT MET, YOUR ORDER WILL BE CANCELED AND €70.00 EXCLUDING TAX WILL BE WITHHELD.

Installation
We recommend installation by a professional mechanic.
Delay
The exchange delay, once the part is received, is 3 working days.
Warranty
2 years legal warranty for compliance and hidden defects.
Symptoms of a Failing Igniter
A worn igniter causes ignition cuts (while driving), manifested by a fluctuating tachometer, related to ignition pulses. In particular, when the membrane located inside the vacuum capsule is torn, the air intake causes a delay in ignition and leads to excessive fuel consumption.
What is an Ignition Distributor or Igniter?
The ignition distributor on a Peugeot 205 GTI, like on many internal combustion engine vehicles equipped with distributor ignition systems, plays an essential role in the proper functioning of the engine. Here’s how it works and what its function is:
Main Function of the Ignition Distributor
The ignition distributor's function is to distribute the high voltage current produced by the ignition coil to the various spark plugs, according to the engine's firing order. This allows a spark to be created in each cylinder at the right moment, synchronized with the engine cycle (intake, compression, combustion, exhaust).
How the Ignition Distributor Works on a 205 GTI:
Connection with the Ignition Coil:
The distributor is connected to the ignition coil, which generates high voltage current (up to several thousand volts). This current is routed to the center of the distributor by a central spark plug wire.
Rotor and Distributor Cap:
Inside the distributor, there is a rotor that rotates in sync with the engine's crankshaft. This rotor is driven by a shaft connected to the camshaft.
The distributor cap contains several metal contacts (one for each cylinder). These contacts are connected to the spark plug wires leading to the respective spark plugs in each cylinder.
Current Distribution:
With each rotation of the rotor, it passes near the metal contacts of the cap, thus closing the circuit to allow the high voltage current to be sent to the corresponding spark plug. The spark produced then ignites the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder at the precise moment it is needed, based on the engine's phase.
