Reconditioning procedure
Entry control of the used part. Complete disassembly for a first cleaning. Cleaning by bead blasting of the external metal surfaces and simple washing of the plastic parts. Preflight check of the operation and condition of all components, replacement / repair: the electronic track, the shutter, the leg, the valve and the duct. Control of electrical resistance. Some components may be replaced with original items. We were able to note that the malfunction of the flowmeter is often linked to wear by scratches of the potentiometer. It is this wear that modifies the impedance, causing power losses, injection cuts and unstable idle. At the end of the reconditioning, this fault is corrected for the return to normal operation of the flowmeter. Finally, the part is tested on a 205 GTI. If the test is passed successfully, the part is placed in stock and available for sale on our site. A normal behavior of a 205 1.9 consists of a high idle (about 2000 rpm) the first 3/4 minutes when cold, then a stabilization of the idle at slightly above 1000 rpm. As the engine reaches its optimum performance when hot, always let it warm up before driving, then drive lightly for the first 10/15 kilometres. It is under these conditions that you should notice a linear acceleration/deceleration, without cuts, without jolts, including with more sporty driving.
Symptoms of an end-of-life flowmeter
If your engine is struggling to take revs, the idle speed is unstable, even very unstable despite its correct adjustment, the engine "coughs", stalls frequently, you have to hold the accelerator to start or keep the idle at its level, and above all, if you observe explosions at the exhaust, loss of power on acceleration, cutouts in the revs, it is probably that your flow meter is at the end of its life.
