Always place the SWR meter between the amplifier and the antenna
Transmit power from your radio to the amplifier must not exceed 1 to 5W in AM/FM, and 2 to 10W in SSB/CW. Exceeding these limits will cause overload and damage. If your radio outputs more power than this, it is absolutely essential to reduce the output below those values before connecting the amplifier.
HOW TO PROPERLY ADJUST YOUR RADIO'S OUTPUT POWER
To avoid damage to the amplifier, ensure your radio's output power does not exceed:
- 1 to 5W in AM/FM
- 2 to 10W in SSB/CW
Here are your available options:
- Radio menu adjustment (President, CRT, etc.): reduce TX power through the system settings.
- Use a power attenuator (RF pad): place it between the radio and amplifier to mechanically reduce the signal.
- Internal adjustment (technician only): some radios allow manual power reduction via internal trimpots. This must be done by a qualified technician only.
Always measure the output power using a wattmeter/SWR meter before connecting the amplifier.
