Yellow Stained Glass Paint for Bulbs and Headlights
45 mL bottle of yellow paint designed for use on bulbs, glass, or plastic. Achieve an authentic vintage yellow color for your headlights.
Many accessories for classic cars (youngtimers) are available further down this page.
Applications and Usage Possibilities
This varnish can be used on metal, plastic, or glass surfaces. It can be applied with a brush, roller, or spray gun. It can be applied to the exterior of a headlight, exposed to wind, sun, and rain, but we recommend using a clear varnish to protect the yellow paint. It can also be applied to the interior surface of a headlight lens, the reflector housing, or a headlight parabolic reflector.
Application Tips
When applying the varnish to your bulb (for side or parking lights only), start by removing any dust or debris from the bulb to ensure a better finish. The bulb should be cold. Apply a single coat of varnish with a brush and let it dry for 10 hours in a dry, sheltered place. To set the paint, you may use a clear spray varnish fixative, especially for outdoor applications.
For applying the varnish on plastic or glass surfaces (lens, backing, or reflector of headlights or bulbs), we recommend applying two coats, each with a 10-hour drying time for a darker result. For a lighter finish, one coat is sufficient. To clean the brush, use mineral spirits. We suggest applying the varnish to the interior surface of the headlight, as these areas are often smooth and provide a better finish.
Make sure to thoroughly clean the surface before applying the varnish.
Here are three examples of this yellow varnish in use: directly applied to the glass of this Porsche; on the chrome reflector housing of a long-range light on a 205 GTI, and on the parking light of a VW Jetta (shown here illuminated).
Important: We recommend using this paint only for low-intensity bulbs, such as parking lights. Do not use on household light bulbs.
